PROJECT OVERVIEW
THE CHALLENGE
Shopping for electronics can be overwhelming, especially when customers need to compare products, understand features, and locate items inside a large store.
THE GOAL
Design an AR shopping experience that helps customers recognize products, compare options, preview setup, and navigate the store with more confidence.
MY ROLE
UX/UI Designer
Research, user flows, wireframes, visual design, prototyping, and usability-focused iteration.
TIMELINE
8-week concept project
From brand research and visual exploration through final high-fidelity screens.
TOOLS
Figma, FigJam, Maze, Adobe tools, accessibility and responsive design checks.
SOLUTION DIRECTION
The concept combines AR product recognition, side-by-side comparison, guided setup previews, personalized bundles, and AI-powered in-store navigation in one connected mobile experience.
04
STRATEGY
CORE FEATURES

AI STORE NAVIGATION
Receive an in-store route to the product, accessories, checkout, or pickup area.

WIREFRAMES & ITERATION
EARLY STRUCTURE
Low-fidelity wireframes focused on hierarchy, camera visibility, comparison clarity, and the shortest path from discovery to decision.

WHAT CHANGED
CLEARER SCANNING
Increased the camera area and made the scan control more visible and easier to understand.
BETTER COMPARISON
Reduced repeated information and grouped the most important differences together.
STRONGER FEEDBACK
Added clear selection, loading, success, and next-step states throughout the flow.
06
FINAL INTERFACE
HIGH-FIDELITY SCREENS
The final interface uses Best Buy’s recognizable blue, yellow, and dark gray while keeping AR interactions direct, readable, and easy to navigate.

DESIGN PRINCIPLES
RECOGNIZABLE
Uses familiar brand colors and visual language.
FOCUSED
Prioritizes one clear action at a time.
ACCESSIBLE
Maintains readable contrast and tap-friendly controls.
07
TESTING & RESULTS
USABILITY FOCUS
Testing focused on whether users could understand the AR controls, find comparison information, and move from product discovery to an in-store or purchase action.

KEY IMPROVEMENTS
SCANNER VISIBILITY
Made the scan entry point larger and moved instructions closer to the camera area.
INFORMATION HIERARCHY
Placed price, rating, major differences, and availability before secondary details.
NAVIGATION FEEDBACK
Added route progress, destination confirmation, and clearer recovery options.

REFLECTION & NEXT STEPS
WHAT I LEARNED
The project reinforced that AR should reduce effort, not add novelty for its own sake. The strongest ideas were the ones that made comparison, setup, and store navigation faster and easier to understand.
NEXT STEPS
Validate the concept with a larger testing group, connect live product and inventory data, improve personalization, and test the experience in a real store environment.
